DDA Access Statement

Maes-y-Derw Country House is an Edwardian property and as such, has many original features. We aim to ensure that all of our guests have a comfortable stay. To aid your stay, you may find the following information useful. The owners can assist with luggage where necessary and assist people if required, whilst ensuring their own safety.

An uphill driveway approaches the House, which is some 50m long.
There are 2 paths to the front door. The first approaches the front door via 4 steps. From the steps to the front door is 8m. The 2nd approaches the front door from the side of the house. From the beginning of the path to the front door is 10m.
The car park area is to the side of the house. From this area to the front door is 17m. The area is flat and is part grave, tarmac and flat paving slabs.
There are 2 steps at the front door.
A car can be parked to the rear of the house for ‘alighting’ purposes. From a car to the back door is 6m 66cm. This area is concrete and flat and there are no steps to the back door. The back door is 79cm wide.
There are no steps to grassed area. Grassed areas are flat and there is seating in the garden for guests.

Ground Floor

From the front door to the bottom of the staircase is 1m 20cm.
From the bottom of the stairs to the dining room is 6m.
From the stairs to the guest lounge is 4 m.
There are 18 stairs to the 1st floor.
There is a downstairs toilet for guest use. Guests must go through a hallway door, which is 89cm wide.
The narrowest point to pass through is 76cm.
The door to the toilet is 80 cm.
From the hallway door to the toilet is 4m.

First Floor

The Guest room furthest from the top of the stairs is 7m.
The width of all doorways into guest rooms is 73cm.
The width of the doorway into the en-suite bathroom of Teifi guest bedroom is 60cm.
The width of the doorway into the en-suite bathroom of Gwili guest bedroom is 74cm.
The width of the doorway into the en-suite bathroom of Towy guest bedroom is 72cm.
There are no steps on the first floor.
All bedrooms have ample sockets.
All flat-screen televisions have remote controls.

General Information

There is a bus service, which operates on a daily basis and runs from Newcastle Emlyn to Cardigan and Newcastle Emlyn to Carmarthen. The bus stop is half a mile from the house into town.
There are ample car parks with disabled parking slots around the town.
The owners would be able to assist with the booking of ‘shop mobility’ if required when visiting larger towns in the area.
Mobile telephone coverage in the area is poor.
